Environmental Impact

At Hertfordshire Students' Union we recognise that we have a significant impact on our environment.  Over the last few years we have taken steps to reduce our impact by focusing on three key things:

  • Energy consumption
  • Waste management
  • Reducing the amount of printed materials we publish.

We aim to reduce energy consumption in our premises by 10% this year and have worked with the University to reduce the amount of energy used in the Forum.  We aim to achieve a recycling rate over 80% and are working to reduce printed materials by 10% year on year.  If you have ideas about how we could improve our environmental impact even further, please get in touch!

We have been awarded the Green Impact Silver Standard Accreditation for commitment to improving environmental practice.

Green Impact is an environmental accreditation and awards scheme run by the National Union of Students, bringing staff and students together with their wider communities to enable and showcase positive changes in environmental practice.

Your Students' Union is always focusing on being more environmentally friendly. Have you seen things around campus that aren't environmentally friendly? We want to know, and so does NUS!
