Permanent Vacancies

ASSISTANT MANAGER and duty manager

We have two opportunities for an experienced Assistant Manager and Duty Manager to join our commercial management team. Responsibilities include ensuring all aspects of the business operate efficiently. Focus must be given to the general security and cleanliness of the premises and the safety of customers and well-being of staff. You will undertake all learning requirements needed to fulfil the duties asked of a member of management team and will as required be part of the Duty management roster. 

This position offers some flexibility as we operate full trading hours during 30 weeks of the year and half trading during the remaining 22 summer weeks.  Our venues are closed during the Christmas period and reopen for New Years Eve.  You will be paid at time and a half for any bank holidays you are expected to work.  We offer a generous annual leave scheme starting at 25 days, pension scheme, training and development and time off in lieu for extra hours worked.

Student Engagement Coordinator

We are looking for someone to empower and support Hertfordshire Students’ Union student-led groups, including societies, volunteer groups and fundraising groups to organise and develop their activities and events. As well as working with the academic schools on the de Havilland Campus to develop engagement with the Students’ Union.

As an organisation we are focused on ensuring that students are represented effectively and are active partners in their education. External Trustee 

Hertfordshire Students' Union is a registered charity and the official representative voice for all students at the University of Hertfordshire. Our aim is to make student life at the University of Hertfordshire incredible.

We are governed by a Board of Trustees, made up of five elected officer trustees, three student trustees and four external trustees. We are looking for external trustees with significant experiences across a range of areas to help shape the look and feel of our organisation at a strategic level. 

The position is voluntary (although reasonable expenses will be paid) and trustees are asked to attend six meetings per year – one of which is a day long strategy/team building day.  The term of office is three years, and external trustees can serve a maximum of two terms.  Our ideal candidate would have experience in at least one of the below areas:

  • Organisational management or experience of governance
  • General business activities and income generation
  • Human resources or organisational development
  • Higher Education and Students' Unions in particular
  • Strategic planning
  • Legal knowledge or company/charity law

WEB AND DIGITAL MARKETING INTERN 

10 am - 5.30 pm, 4 - 5 days per week - £7.90 an hour

If you want to join a fun, hard-working and creative team while gaining valuable employability skills, this could be the role for you.

As the Coding and Web Developer Intern, you will be doing web design within an existing CMS system and will support the Marketing department by updating content for the new Students’ Union website and providing support for customer enquiries. A good understanding of digital marketing and web design are essential for this role.
