I’m Muhammad Saad Raees and this year I’m running to be your postgraduate officer! I’m pursuing MSc Computer Networking at University of Hertfordshire and currently engaged in Advance Research in Computer Science.
If elected for this position, my utmost priority will be to engage postgraduates and research their issues by acting as the principal contact for all PG students in the SU. Moreover, I will also try to improve the offers to Postgraduates and increase their participation with the help and support of SU Officers.
Some of the priorities which I have selected to work on are mentioned below,
MANDATORY PLACEMENT YEAR:
Considering the fact that I am a Computer Science student and have the benefit of undertaking a yearlong work placement it’s my wish and desire that this opportunity should be opened for all disciplines so that PG students from other departments can also make the most out of it.
UG MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME:
I will engage PG students from all departments and will form a team who will provide answers to the enquiries made by the UG students. Not limited to this, main goal of this team would be to help UG students in guiding them for their field relevant issues. This will also integrate the UG and PG students accordingly.
MORE INDUSTRIAL OPPORTUNITIES:
I will try to establish a direct relationship with some companies and organisations which can offer more placement and internship offers to PG students so that apart from theoretical awareness they can also get practical knowledge which can lead to a permanent job after completion of the degree.
It has come to my knowledge that some students are coming 5 days/week to attend their classes. I will voice my concern regarding this issue on priority basis so that scalability option can be considered on it. In addition to that, I will try to make sure early morning classes for PG students aren’t scheduled.
These are my main goals which I will try to achieve if provided with the opportunity of becoming a PG officer. Therefore, do vote for me for betterment of PG students as single vote can make a difference.
