THALIE BROWN (SHOW HERTS)

VOTE THALIE BROWN #1 EDUCATION & WELFARE and ALL MEMBERS OF SHOW HERTS #1

ABOUT ME
Hi I’m Nathalie Boakye, also known as Thalie Brown and I’m a returning final year Business Studies student. Since being at Herts, I have been actively involved with the University by working in Education and Welfare for the Outreach department as well as leading several societies. Prior to Herts I was a Student Governor and president of multiple forums to enhance educational experiences.

WHY I'M RUNNING WITH SHOW HERTS
I chose SHOW HERTS because each member on this team has worked for the Student Union and has the relevant knowledge in the area they are running for. This means more work can be fulfilled effectively and efficiently. This team is entirely dedicated to truly make a difference by engaging each student at this University.

WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME
I am a proactive, enthusiastic and caring person, who enjoys finding ways to enhance our educational experiences. In the past, I have introduced alternative learning strategies, created platforms for ethnic minorities to voice their concerns and have offered extra support for students who were struggling with academics and accommodation.

Enhance your Campus Experience
At Herts it's all about finding the balance to work hard and play hard. My aim is to find a way to connect your course and fun in one by working in correlation with the VP of Student Activities to create ‘Stress release’ fun days.

Further develop BME success projects
Since developments have been made to improve Black And Ethnic Minority (BME) success through various workshops and projects, I am to continue these developments, to ensure that targets are attained. I also aim to increase the number of English language support for students who struggle with English in verbal or written.

Enhance academic transitions
Moving from one year to another can be stressful. I aim to establish an induction week that solely focuses on academic transitions. I also aim to introduce mentoring programs for upper level students to mentor students in the years below, as well as improving the support for international and exchange students in the UK and abroad.

Improve time table schedules for mature, part-time, carers and commuters
Being a full time student is hard enough. But to be in either of these circumstances can make studying a little more challenging. I want to ensure that students in these circumstances are given a timetable that best suits their schedule as well as their teacher’s.

Prioritising the support of welfare and liberation groups
Each and everyone is entitled their human rights and it is important to acknowledge all differences and work together to creating a united University. It will be my duty to recognise all groups by running regular forums, events and activities.
