My name is Garritt Brown, I am currently a second year Adult Nursing student and I would like to be your Health and Social Worker School Officer for the upcoming year. I am enthusiastic about ensuring that students are enjoying the course, encouraging them to get involved and voice their concerns. My skills include, good organisation and commitment, and I feel that I am ready for the next steeping stone while on my course. I want to be the one that helps students benefit from their own course as much as possible.
This year, I have been a student representative for the Adult Nursing Programme. This position has taught me the importance of student-staff communication and working in partnership with everyone involved in the Faculty, from students and reps, to staff, to improve the course for current and future students. Being a student rep has also allowed me to recognise the importance of how building those links can improve the student experience and enhance their overall experience. With this new role, I would continue to work towards building those links and ensuring student's voices and opinions are heard, and students are kept up to date with news or updates from each Faculty.
Implementing new ideas and concepts is a advantage of further development of the Faculty. My idea of collecting students opinions and concerns whilst in a lecture hall have benefited me, as a student rep, by allowing myself to collect adult nursing-specific feedback for the Pre-Registration Nursing Programme
I feel that I am ready to face a bigger challenge and start representing all fields. This will allow me to tackle enquiries that concern all students, not just nursing students.
