Manifesto- International officer
Salman Konnackal Sadeek
Who am I:
Having served as the General Secretary of the college union under Mahatma Gandhi University in India has given me the opportunity to help out students in their various issues. After my graduation in Bachelor of Commerce, I’m currently pursuing my Masters in International Business at the University of Hertfordshire. My former activities include working with various non-profit organisation as well as the student societies in managing their events and making the student experience better. I have also represented the international students in the workshop conducted by the PDC of UH. I’m also a representative of the MSc IB program.
What recommends me:
As an international student, I have been through many difficulties during the first few months of university life including the accent problem, cultural differences, learning methods etc. This indeed is a tough decision for me to contest in the upcoming election as I know there needs to be a lot of effort and work done. Yet I take this as a challenge to help and strengthen the international community in the University.
What are my plans:
The University of Hertfordshire is one of the most diverse universities in the world and that indeed is a matter of pride and joy. The prime objective of my duty will be to link the international students with the local students and to give them a better university experience in UK. Mentoring events for the fresh international students will ensure a smooth transition to the new environment. I shall work to provide free accommodation facility for five days for the fresh students which will help them to settle in their beginning stages, which will be entirely helpful. Detailed research will be conducted and special focus will be given in finding employers who can offer jobs for the international students. With the help of students union, a weekly one on one session will be held for the students facing difficulty with any issues for which I will be an active part. It will be my duty to pull out all the opportunities and resources available in the university to the students, both international and local. I also have an idea of putting up a language handbook including the elementary phrases of ten different languages.
And finally, I kindly request your support and co-operation in the student’s union elections and in my journey forward.
