Hertfordshire Students' Union is giving you the chance to pick up some essential skills in our First Aid course. Delivered by fully trained proffessionals you'll come away from the course feeling confident in first aid procedures and have a certificate to show for it.

First Aid courses usually cost up to £100 so these £30 sessions are a bargain!!

Please note that prior first aid experience is not required to attend this course.

Level 2 - Emergency First Aid at Work

Unit 1 covers:

  • Understanding the role of the  first aider
  • Being able to assess an emergency situation and act safely and effectively
  • Being able to provide first aid for an adult who is unresponsive and  breathing normally
  • Being able to provide first aid for an adult who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
  • Being able to provide first aid for an in adult who has a foreign body airway obstruction
  • Being able to provide first aid to an adultt who is wounded and bleeding
  • Knowing how to provide first aid to an adult who is suffering from shock

Managing  Illness and Injury

In Unit 2 the learner must:

    • Be able to provide first aid to an adult with a suspected fracture and a dislocation
    • Be able to provide first aid to an adult with a head, neck or back injury
    • Know how to provide first aid to an adult with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose
    • Know how to provide first aid to an adult with a chronic medical condition or sudden illness
    • Know how to provide first aid to an adult who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and cold
    • Know how to provide first aid to an adult with burns and scalds
    • Know how to provide first aid to an adult who has been poisoned
    • Know how to provide first aid to an adult who has been bitten or stung
