Perinatal mental health conference
The University of Hertfordshire's midwifery society are very pleased to be hosting a perinatal mental health conference. 5 guest speakers, including professionals and service users, have been confirmed as follows:
  • Elaine Hanzak - an inspirational speaker on overcoming loss. She uses her life experiences of puerperal psychosis and bereavement to demonstrate how it is possible to smile again after life has thrown us challenges!
  • Jane Fisher - a mental health nurse who shares her personal experience of going from a mental health nurse, to a mental health patient, overnight.
  • Mark Williams - a father who became involved in the mental health sector after his wife Michelles experience with postnatal depression / birth trauma and his own experience with depression following the birth of his child. Mark is the founder of Fathers Reaching Out.
  • Dr Raja Gangopadhyay - a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with a special interest in perinatal mental health.
  • Rohan Mcarty - a specialist midwife in perinatal mental health.
The midwifery society is lucky enough to offer the first 40 student members a discounted ticket of £10 - for non student members and once the first 40 tickets are sold the ticket price will be £20.
Refreshments will be provided throughout the day and delegates will be provided with a certificate of attendance as recognition of their CPD.
