We are always working on ways we can represent your academic interests at the University of Hertfordshire.
Recently, your Vice President Education, Sarah Kwedi, has lobbied to provide extra development opportunities for students. After speaking with the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience, the support you have through Academic English and Maths facilities will now be increased! Both the Maths support service and Academic English service are open to all students from any discipline.
This increased service now includes:
- Extending the Maths Support Service to the de Havilland Campus LRC and the Centre for Academic English to both campuses
- A new series of Maths workshops and Academic English and Study Skills Development workshops that will run in semesters A and B.
- New intensive support at weekends
The Maths Support service will now run drop-in sessions not only at the College Lane LRC (Monday-Friday 10.00-16.00) but also at the De Havilland LRC (Tuesday 13.00-16.00 and Thursday 10.00-13.00). Also, the Centre for Academic English will be running at both the College Lane LRC and the De Havilland LRC (Monday to Friday 10.00-14.00).
The new series of Maths and Academic English workshops will allow students to improve on basic numeracy skills and develop skills and confidence in academic study. The topics for each workshop will be published to enable students to book places. This session is aimed at level 4 students and will be available on both campuses, but students will need to book places before the session begins.
Intensive weekend support will also allow invited level 4 students to improve basic Maths, English and English grammar. This session is by invite only.
