SU Champions - April

Congratulations to our SCO of the Month, Society of the Month and Student Rep of the Month!

Presenting our SU Champions of the Month

SCO of the Month

Our final SCO of the Month for 2020/21 is Harriet Podmore (Health and Social Work), who has put a great deal of work into improving the personal tutoring system within her School. From organising student focus groups, to analysing data and writing a research report, her efforts are being used to shape the future direction of academic/pastoral support in HSK, ensuring that students can access and feel comfortable with student-to-staff, and peer-to-peer support mechanisms. She has been a brilliant advocate for students’ best interests throughout the year, and is fully deserving of this recognition.

“Hatty’s work is being used to develop the personal tutoring system within the school, shaping it to support students and recommending that personal tutors reach out to students.”

Society of the Month

Congratulations to our Society of the Month for April, the Green Movement Society. The Green Movement Society organised an amazing initiative to commemorate Earth Day. They collaborated with the Dean of Students and Students' Union to arrange a Community Litter Pick, both on-campus and in the surrounding area. Their outings were really successful, as they managed to clear 7 bags full of rubbish from the streets. A number of students were involved in the project, coming together to make our local environment cleaner.

Student Rep of the Month

1st Place = Rose Guerzon (Creative Arts)

Rose was nominated for the support she’s provided to her fellow Student Rep throughout the year; particularly the way she helps organise the process of collecting and passing on students’ feedback. She has also maintained a strong connection to the students she represents by regularly checking in via the course WhatsApp group chat. She’s made sure that her peers feel listened to, plus motivated to achieve their best work, and has been an overall joy to work with in her capacity as a Student Rep this year!

2nd Place = Charlie Bewers (Humanities)

Charlie has helped organise multiple events for his course, maintaining a passionate and friendly approach to the role throughout the year. He has been great at supporting his fellow Student Reps too, providing good advice on a regular basis, and encouraging others to stay engaged and motivated themselves.

3rd Place = Bobby Govind (Business School)

Bobby was nominated for his dedication and professionalism in being a Student Representative. He has attended Programme Committee Meetings on a regular basis, contributing significantly to the development of students’ education, and his overall leadership and communication skills have made him a valuable asset to the Business School.
