Tell us an interesting fact about yourself
My eyes change colour/shade dependant on the weather and my mood
What do you love the most about Herts SU? Or, what do you look forward to most as an officer at Herts SU?
I love the sense of community at the Students’ Union. The Students’ Union helped me to feel more integrated in university, not only by enhancing my social experience but by providing me with volunteering, skills and job opportunities during my time at UH and for beyond!
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?/ What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
I would love to get involved with something creative such as leaning how to take professional photographs and edit them correctly. To compliment this, I would also want to learn some Adobe software skills such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, so that I can make posters, logos, business cards and other materials.
What are some small things that make your day better?
Sunshine, Friendly people, Chocolate cake.
What was the most important thing you learnt during your time at university?
BE YOURSELF. Don’t fall into the trap of having to be someone you’re not, Herts is full of so many different types of people and you all belong here. At times I was tempted to prioritise going out over my studies, but I had to make some tough choices and focus on my uni work, but this helped my grades so much.
What would be your ideal way to spend the weekend?
A spa weekend. I’m thinking lazing around in a robe, all you can eat buffet breakfast followed by being horizontal all day with the odd break to go in the jacuzzi and a massage. And eat some cake. I like cake.
What have you only recently formed an opinion about?
The necessity of turning off some (or all) of your notifications on your phone. The whole FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) culture of needing to scroll through social media endlessly, is actually really not great for your mental health and wellbeing.
What could you give a 40-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation?
Other than my dissertation topic?! I would actually do a presentation for students to do with “the secret life of UH staff” a behind the scenes type presentation.
What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
Go to a cultural event for a culture you’ve never experienced before. Learning about another culture is so nice but also fun, for me this year it was seeing a Dragon Dance for Chinese New Year. This was awesome!
What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?
I mean it’s in a few months, so not too far down the 10-year path, but I am most looking forward to Graduating. Honestly, I’m super nervous about going on stage and falling over or something, but I am so proud of my achievements and I can’t wait to get my certificate and frame it! Also, the whole outfit and hat. I am literally so excited.
