It’s been around a week since we returned from the Lead and Change conference and we have had some time to reflect on the bits ‘n’ bobs we learnt from the course and other Full-Time Officers (FTO’s).
We would love to share with you some of the things we learnt. Did you know…?
FTO’s have 4 ‘hats’ – We are trustees (making the SU stronger), we are activists (making change happen & saying things that need to be said), we are representatives (we advocate on your behalf to empower the voice of students) and finally, we have our portfolio hat (our agendas on our manifestos)… Yes! This job is sooo busy!
There are two ways we represent you – Enactive (based on stats and data which students have contributed to) & Interpretive (decisions we must make on your behalf). We must use a combination of both, but have to think about what you would prefer.
We met some amazing people and discovered more about different types of positions different SU’s have, the different styles of elections they run and about all of the amazing projects and campaigns our fellow FTO’s will be running throughout their year in office (you might even see some collabs this coming year).
Catch you again soon,
Your Elected Officers
P.S. Here are some pictures from our time at the conference with other FTOs:
