GEP Society

The Geography Environment and Planning Society is run by GEP students to allow GEP topics to be discussed in an informal environment. It also provides GEP students with the opportunity to socially engage with their peers and other members of UH through attending events with a geographical theme. We invite anyone with a keep interest in Geography, the environment and planning to join our society!

Previously known as GECKO, our society has been historically run by second-year GEP undergrad students, who have put on a variety of successful events for their fellow students and the department staff. We have established a friendly, fun community of people who care about the environment and our planet and want to expand their knowledge of GEP topics, whilst also engaging in an enriched social life at university.

Some of the events we have previously run include our annual Christmas Quiz/Party, “Meet the Lecturer” Talks, Cumberland Lodge Trips, Snowdon Trip, evenings at the EleHouse and more recently Bake-Alongs!

Currently, the GEP society is run by postgraduate students and our events are being held online. However, we hope that in the future in-person meetings can return! In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you virtually!
