Marrow is a student organization like no other. We help to recruit stem cell donors, as well as raising money for lifesaving transfusion procedures and for research into blood cancers like leukaemia.
Students can help the Anthony Nolan Charity in a way that nobody else can - because young people make the best stem cell donors, and we need your help to recruit them.
Joining the register is easy - if you're not underweight, or overweight, and you're a UK resident aged over 16, all you have to do is spit in a tube and you're on the list to potentially save a life one day. For more info on criteria for donors and what the donation procedure looks like, go and visit www.anthonynolan.org and click on "donate your stem cells".
So what are we here for? Well, we are the student division, and we run promotional events to raise money, raise awareness, and get people to sign up to the register. Here at Herts we're the 43rd university to set up a Marrow chapter - so we have a lot of catching up to do! Every year, Marrow projects up and down the country recruit 10,000 donors and raise £145,000 - so come and get stuck in!
Here's an example of what we get up to!
Look like fun? This is only a taste of what we get up to! We always need new volunteers to help out at our events. Don't worry if you can't make a big commitment - even if you help just once for one hour you could still be saving someone's life. If you're interested in being a volunteer, check out our "Events" page for the next big thing, or contact us via Twitter, Facebook or good old fashioned email. And if you just want to join the register - come along to our next recruitment event, or go to the Anthony Nolan website and order a kit from there.
Please do message us if you wish to be a volunteer as we need to add you to the Facebook group!
