24,282 students. We need representatives who will champion the voices of 13,123 Black Asian and Minority Ethnic students and 10,754 White students. Someone to listen to the voices of the 11,450 mature students and 2,818 students with disabilities.

What positions are there and what do they involve?
All applications will be open from Monday 11th January at 9am to Monday 22nd February 9am
Full-time elected officers will officially take up office in July 2021 and finish their term of office in July 2022. Being a full-time officer is a paid position (Annual Salary £22,017) for one full academic year. All four Full-time Officer positions will serve as part of the Union's board of Trustees, alongside the Student Trustees and four External Trustees. On a practical level this means you need to be able to make major decisions on legal and financial issues and ensure that we are delivering on our strategy of putting students at the University of Hertfordshire first.
The President leads the work of the Officer team and represents students to the University and wider community.
They meet regularly with senior University management and community leaders, being the lead officer for democratic and governance structures as well as for campaigns and change. They also have the opportunity to meet with, and lobby, the University’s Chancellor, local MPs, and influential figures in the University sector as well as oversee the work of the Officer team, are part of the Trustee Board and sit on the University’s governing board.
Vice President Education
The Vice President Education lobbies for a great academic experience at the University.
They work to improve and continually develop academic life by working with Student Reps and others to ensure that students are partners in their education. They support employability to ensure students leave with a great degree and are employable, championing a culture where students’ feedback is engaged with and used to continually develop the University.
Vice President Activities
The Vice President Activities oversees student opportunities for fun and development, including societies, sports and volunteering.
They head up our recreational and development activities such as societies, volunteering, RaG and media. They are the lead officer in development of sport and social activity on campus and the champion of student groups and extra-curricular activity.
Vice President Community
The Vice President Community works with on and off-campus partners to develop community at the University of Hertfordshire.
They are the lead officer for welfare and work to ensure students can access the support and guidance that they need. They are a champion for citizenship and social responsibility.
An NUS Delegate represents Hertfordshire Student Union at a national level at the National Union of Students (NUS) Conference.
This role can influence the national student movement by voting on motions at national conferences as well as electing NUS Officers who work full time, campaigning on the issues that you’ll vote on at conference. National Conference occurs once a year and it’s where our elected delegates will get to have a say in what the national union believes and campaigns for! 50% of our NUS Delegates must identify as women.
