Graphic Designer Intern

We're looking for a creative, innovative and passionate student with graphic design experience to fill our Graphic Designer Intern role. The Graphic Designer Intern will work with our Marketing team to deliver high quality design work within our brand guidelines for a variety of Students’ Union projects. The designs created by the Graphic Designer Intern will be used across a range of digital and printed channels, including email, posters, social media and our website. A key focus for the Graphic Designer Intern will be producing collateral for large campaigns like Welcome Week, Black History Month and more.

Academic Societies Intern

The Academic Societies Intern will facilitate student involvement within Academic Societies and assist the development of administration and operational support. The Academic Societies Intern will be vital in ensuring we can put in enough time and resource to support these groups over summer, through developing training, be the first line of contact for students and working off feedback. This assistance before the start of the next academic year will mean a strong start for academic representation and continued support throughout the year.

Research Intern

The Research Intern will support the Research activity of the Students’ Union, focusing on the development of membership focused research and engagement projects. They will support the team in better understanding our harder-to-reach student communities and ensuring we are representing student voices. They will assist with critical research for our international student population, programme leader feedback, HSU student engagement and other key insight focuses of the SU and be a real helping hand over summer supporting the Student Voice team.

Welcome Events Intern

We're looking for an enthusiastic and driven intern to help develop our Welcome Week programme for the 22-23 academic year. This role will work alongside our Events Coordinator to develop an exciting events programme to introduce and induct the new and current students into the UH community.

Web Developer Intern

We're looking for a creative, innovative and passionate student with coding and website experience to fill our Web Developer Intern role. The Web Developer Intern will be responsible for working with key stakeholders to ensure our website is appealing to - and accessible for - our diverse student population. Key projects for the Web Developer Intern include support with the transition of our move onto a new domain, improving the general user experience across our website and building our Freshers microsite. They will be working with the Marketing team, the wider staff team across the Students' Union and our website provider.

Voluntary Vacancies

Student Trustees - Deadline Extended

We’re looking to appoint two new Student Trustees to sit on our Trustee Board from August 2022. This is a voluntary position offering a fantastic experience, where you will need the ability to think strategically, creatively and be willing to voice your opinions. Ideally you will have had work experience with the University or Students’ Union and have a good understanding of different types of students and the issues they may face.

Our Board is made up of four Sabbatical Officers, four External Trustees, one University Trustee and two Student Trustees. All Trustees carry equal weight and equal voting rights and are responsible for overseeing that we adhere to our strategic, legal and financial obligations.

Here at Hertfordshire Students’ Union, our vision is to help students love life at Herts. We encourage our team to have fun at work and are a truly values-led organisation. As such, our Student Trustees must demonstrate our everyday values of innovation, collaboration and friendliness whilst ensuring we are fully representative of students.

A full induction and training programme will be provided. You will be required to attend five meetings a year, along with some social events.

Please note: Only current University of Hertfordshire students, who are not due to undertake a placement or study abroad session during the next academic year, can apply for this role. You must be a student in 2022-2023 to apply for this role.
